
Prashan De Visser
Founder & President
Prashan De Visser was the president and founder of Sri Lanka Unites, a youth movement for reconciliation in post-war Sri Lanka that began soon after the end of the armed conflict in 2009. Sri Lanka Unites is the largest reconciliation grassroots movement in the country and has been highlighted as one of the top 20 grassroots movements in the commonwealth region and as one of the top 8 models of youth engagement at the commonwealth heads of state gathering in 2018. Prashan is also the president and founder of Global Unites, an international youth movement for conflict transformation engaged in 20 countries across the world. Prashan was awarded the Point of Light award by Her Majesty the Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, for his volunteer services in Sri Lanka and beyond in 2018.
Prashan completed his M.A. in peace studies and public policy at the Kroc Institute, University of Notre Dame, USA, and was selected from his cohort for the Scully Leadership Award. He received an Honorary Doctorate for Public Service from his alma mater Gordon College in 2022. He was also celebrated as one of the Kindness and Revolution - 50 Leading Lights for Asia Pacific in 2021. Prashan serves as a visiting lecturer at Crozer Colgate University Seminary, a key institution in the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, where he teaches the Ph.D. course in the Theory and Practice of Peacebuilding
He recently authored his first book, the ‘Phoenix Generation’, documenting over a decade of peacebuilding work in some of the most challenging contexts and offering unique insight into the valuable role youth play in transforming their nations.
